It’s time to start!

Horses are like children , and most if not all have a short concentration span , make learning fun.

As the Horse dislikes work! But love’s to play; for instance a new foal is playing all the time. Playing with his mum and other youngster’s learning from a very early age beginning to understand the rights and wrongs and what the heard will allow and expect from him.

To make learning fun for him we need to find out what our horse likes, this way his patience and concentration will be longer, making teaching easier.

If we were to put ourselves in our Horses shoes his likes and dislikes we would see that his view of learning is much like our own, if for instance the Horse shows signs of fear or distress and is emotionally upset how would we deal with it.

Would we become firm and make him carry on, or would we help him to calm down and re-start the session with a different method how would you want your teacher to react?

Making the Horse need to learn to act more like a human than an animal of prey as prey equals flight and prey animals have a tendency to take flight once afraid.

Prey animals in the wild are to be eaten by the predator and problems arise when the human gets aggressive or afraid and responds by getting tight in the hand or on the leg.

The Horse then reacts to the “vibes” sent through the handler nerves and confidence cannot be mixed with aggressiveness.

The Horse of today is still as wild as the Horse of their ancestor they still have the ability to detect danger with instinct to react to surprise and therefore defend himself or herself.

These reactions can be one of many and many are misinterpreted as defiance but are more likely to be fear.

Horses are natural followers and need natural leaders who will be kind and responsible a leader for him to respect and trust one the Horse wants to be with and do his best to please.

A Horse and human partnership is what we aim for not broken into submission, no personality, any love any life in his eyes!

A Horse who excepts his rider is eager to learn as learning is fun with room for improvement the dance of dressage and the jump for joy but all is done because he wants to do it.
